How to treat burn scars

Core tips:

Burns and scalds will inevitably leave scars, but the care of scars cannot be ignored. Serious burns will leave long-term scars. Although the scars cannot be completely removed, care should be taken to avoid scars from worsening.

1. Avoid excessive friction and excessive activity. Due to the imperfect structure and function of the scar epidermis, the epidermis is more vulnerable to damage. Some inappropriate treatment may aggravate the injury. It is not advisable to massage with excessive force or prolonged massage. This will cause the epidermis to separate from the fibrous layer to form blisters or blood blisters. Excessive movement of the joints will also cause the epidermis to loosen and separate and form blisters.

Second, pay attention to skin cleanliness and hygiene. When the burn wound is just healed, there are still a small amount of secretions and scabs. The bacteria are prone to multiply quickly. In addition, the epidermis is thin and tender, and the structure and function are not perfect. It is easy to cause infection and ulceration. During this period, it is necessary to pay attention to the cleanliness of the skin.

3. Early prevention, perseverance. The formation process of burn scars can be roughly divided into a hyperplasia period, a stable period, and a regression period. The duration of the hyperplasia period ranges from 3 months to 2 years, and most of them are around half a year. However, due to various reasons, such as ulcers, pain, lack of patience, or improper methods, some patients often cannot adhere to scar care, causing scar hyperplasia and contracture.

4. If the patient is a lower extremity burn, it is not advisable to move prematurely. Because the scar epidermis is weak, the structure and function of the lower blood vessel are not perfect, and it cannot resist the internal pressure of gravity. , Or even bleeding, which will increase scar hyperplasia.
